Immediately after treatment, we will provide you with specific instructions; however, there are a few general principles that apply to everyone recovering from a root canal.
Immediate Care: The First Few Days Matter Most
The area around your tooth may feel tender for a few days. With the right care, this discomfort is usually mild and short-lived.
Here’s what to focus on during early recovery:
- Avoid chewing on the treated side until the tooth is fully restored.
- Take pain relief as directed by your dentist.
- Stick to soft foods for the first 24–48 hours.
- Rinse gently with warm salt water if advised.
- Maintain your oral hygiene routine, being careful around the treated area.

Long-Term Care and Final Restoration
Most teeth that have had root canal therapy will need a crown placed over them to protect
