That said, some temporary sensitivity is normal, but it's manageable and often mild.

What to Expect During and After Whitening
Teeth whitening works by gently opening up the enamel to lift deep stains, which can temporarily expose the nerve endings and cause some sensitivity.
Here’s what you might experience:
- Mild tingling or sensitivity during or shortly after treatment
- Cold or air sensitivity that lasts for 1–3 days
- Little to no discomfort for most patients
Philips Zoom! includes built-in desensitising agents to reduce sensitivity, and we also provide advice or products (like sensitive toothpaste) to help if needed. Take-home kits allow you to whiten gradually, which can also minimise discomfort.
